Citrus Bowl prediction roundtable with the Campus Insiders staff. Breaking down what will happen between LSU and Louisville.

Jeff Bartl

Is it considered an unpopular opinion to believe that 7-4 LSU just isn’t very good? Like, even with Leonard Fournette, it’s still an average to slightly above average team. Derrius Guice has been better when he’s replacing Fournette anyway, and the Tigers still aren’t that good. Why would I pick this team?

Lamar Jackson won the Heisman Trophy behind a horrific offensive line and people still think LSU is going to win? Jackson could go for 500 total yards in this one before he makes a run at matching Archie Griffin’s multiple Heismans next year. Louisville rolls.

Jonathan Bass

Give me the Cardinals. Lamar Jackson is a video game unlike anything the Tigers have seen. If anything, he’ll be a nice primer to what a more mature Jalen Hurts might look like next year. Todd Grantham’s defense will be dialed in and contain Derrius Guice. Meanwhile, Danny Etling somehow overthrows Malachi Dupre and Travin Dural over and over and over again.

Robert Judin

Leonard Fournette isn’t suiting up for this one, but LSU still has Derrius Guice. He’ll take off and demolish the Louisville defense with one hand behind his back and both eyes closed. However, Lamar Jackson is the Heisman Trophy winner, and he’s going to give us more more example why he deserved all the votes he got. Jackson will have a huge game and lead the Cardinals to a win by hurting the Tigers mostly with his ability to take off and run.

The Ed Orgeron As Full-Time Coach Era begins as LSU takes on Heisman Trophy winner Lamar Jackson. The headlines write themselves, so I’m jealous of all the beat writers that are covering this one. The big story is supposed to be Leonard Fournette sitting out, but how dare we forget that Tigers backup Derrius Guice is just as good, if not better, than the oft-injured Fournette.

The Cardinals offensive line is …well… awful. There is no other way to put it. Jackson will be scrambling for his life all day long – good thing he is excellent at that – as the LSU front seven dominates. I’m changing my original pick, and the Orgeron tenure will get started with a win for LSU. The rest of it? Well, it will be interesting.
