Four-star running back Colin Wilson committed to Louisville on Wednesday.
There’s a new member of the top 25 in the 2017 recruiting class rankings, and it’s Bobby Petrino’s Cardinals.
The program’s latest addition came on Wednesday when 4-star recruit Colin Wilson committed to Louisville on Twitter. Wilson, who’s from Green Cove Springs, Florida, is the No. 15 running back and No. 156 overall player in the country. He’s also the No. 2 running back in the state of Florida.
With the addition of Wilson, who became the Cardinals’ 22nd commit, Louisville moved up to No. 23 in the 2017 recruiting class rankings with 1,842 total recruiting points. Wilson’s pledge added 205 points.
He chose Petrino’s team while holding offers from Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Georgia, Miami, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, USC and others.
At 6-foot, 209 lbs Wilson can go from zero to 60 in a hurry. Not only can he dash right through a hole and sprint right through the second and third levels, but he’s a powerful tailback capable of breaking through arm tackles and overpowering defenders who try to hit him too high. He isn’t the fastest halfback, but he can create separation with the acceleration.
Wilson shows great balance and quick feet, but he has room to improve. If he can get better as a pass blocker and as a route runner, Wilcon could ensure himself a spot on the field for third downs. He’ll also need to take care of his body well enough to be able to physically do that. He isn’t the most durable running back, but he is one of the most talented ones in the class.
