A college football news roundup that features a dreaded vote of confidence for Texas head coach Charlie Strong and bad news for LSU’s Mike the Tiger.

It’s Thursday, which means only one thing: new episodes of Friends, Seinfeld, and ER tonight! Oh, it isn’t 1996 anymore? Well darn. I was hoping to be that young again.

Here’s some college football news, as Houston and Tom Herman put the outside noise and rumors out of their mind and focus on winning, LSU running back Leonard Fournette is likely to miss this Saturday’s game against Florida, and Alabama defensive back Minkah Fitzpatrick is not afraid to speak his mind. Here are some other newsworthy notes in the latest college football news roundup.

The Dreaded Support Message – It’s no secret that Texas head coach Charlie Strong is on the hot seat. The Longhorns have started 2-2 and are headed into this weekend’s Oklahoma game as a big underdog, so it may or may not help that University of Texas president Greg Fenves has let it be known that he’s “behind the student-athletes and coaches as they prepare for OU and rest of the season.”

This, in the business, is what you would consider the “dreaded vote of confidence” that has become all too familiar. If the Longhorns are a no-show against the Sooners, Strong could be out of the door in Austin.

Bad News For Mike The Tiger – Tigers are magnificent animals, and I say this only because I have never come up close to one in the wild, so it is bad news that the cancer has spread on Mike VI, LSU’s tiger mascot, and the vets have given him 1-2 months to live. Mike will eventually be euthanized so he will not suffer any pain in the latter stages of his life.

This Only Goes To Eight – The athletic directors of the ACC have decided to stay with an eight-game conference schedule after debating on whether or not to go to nine games. The conference will still require one non-conference game to be played against another Power Five school.
