A college football news roundup that includes a key running back out for Tennessee and Penn State head coach James Franklin getting the dreaded vote of confidence.

I had a friend pick up a bottle of Febreze so that I could spray my cast with the odor-clenching stuff every now just in case it started to smell. Pretty sure my co-workers are appreciative of the effort. As for college football news, the Florida-LSU matchup was postponed and doesn’t look it will get rescheduled, Louisville head coach Bobby Petrino is making the best of his second chance, and take a look at who is wearing the best uniforms this week from our #FashionInsider. Here are some other newsworthy notes in the latest college football news roundup.

Hurd Out For Tennessee – As expected, Tennessee running back Jalen Hurd will miss Saturday’s showdown against Texas A&M in Kyle Field after suffering an injury in last week’s thrilling win over Georgia. The details of the injury are not fully known, but it is being reported that it is an upper body injury.

UGA-South Carolina Rescheduled – A few college football games have already been postponed or cancelled due to Hurricane Matthew, but the Bulldogs and Gamecocks will wait one more day and play their matchup on Sunday afternoon.

“Due to the potential impact of the hurricane on Columbia and the surrounding area, it is in the best interest of safety to play the game on Sunday rather than Saturday night,” SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey said.  “I appreciate the cooperation of the schools who worked closely to make the appropriate operational adjustments in order to accommodate this change in the schedule.”

Another Vote Of Confidence – James Franklin hasn’t been exactly the coach that Penn State thought he would be when they hired him in 2014, going 17-14 so far and struggling to win games against the likes of Temple. Athletic director Sandy Barbour said that Franklin will be the team’s coach for the “long-term.”

“I get there’s a frustration with where we are,” Barbour said. “I’d be worried if there wasn’t. I want Penn State football to stand for excellence. Always has and always will. To some degree, I want our fans to be impatient, but I also want them to understand factual challenges.”

Derek Willis (Yes, Derek Willis!) Throws It Down

Kentucky’s Derek Willis is known for his outside shooting ability, but he showed Big Blue Nation that he can dunk too. The Wildcats’ bench (including De’Aaron Fox, who left with an ankle injury) was up in arms when Willis threw it down in UK’s 85-69 win over No. 24 South Carolina.
