A college football news roundup that includes an Arkansas professor getting arrested during Razorbacks loss and Stanford running back Christian McCaffrey being a little banged up.

The Chicago Marathon was yesterday, so all the runners who completed it were walking around with their cool down vests and medals while I sat at a bar with my left leg in a cast cursing at them for having two good feet. It’s not like I planned on running the marathon anyway, but still … rub it in why don’t you.

In college football news, Michigan’s Jabrill Peppers is being hyped for the Heisman Trophy, Notre Dame took another blow to its bowl chances, and Charlie Strong’s time in Austin could be coming to an end. Let’s take a look at some other newsworthy notes in the latest college football news roundup.

There Goes His Tenure – Everyone knows college football is taken a little bit more serious in the SEC than the rest of the nation, but this is the first time I can recall a professor getting arrested for heckling his own head coach.

Lawton Nalley, an associate professor at the University of Arkansas, was arrested for public intoxication and disorderly conduct after yelling obscenities at Razorbacks head coach Bret Bielema in the 49-30 loss to Alabama.

Let’s just hope his students keep it classy in the next lecture.

McCaffrey Banged Up – In a 42-16 upset loss to Washington State, Stanford running back Christian McCaffrey seemed to suffer a lower body injury in the second half, and did not return to the game.

“McCaffrey did get banged up,” Shaw said. “But there was no reason to put him in late in the game. We just left him out. We’ll see how he is during the course of the week.”

Let’s Hear It For The Kicker – Kickers tend to get no love for the makes and all the hate when they miss a field goal, so let’s celebrate Arizona State’s Zane Gonzalez, who broke the NCAA field goals in a career record with his 89th on Saturday against UCLA.
