A college football news roundup that includes Tom Herman not ready to name starting quarterback for Texas and Ohio State filling the stadium for spring game.

It was a beautiful weekend in Lexington, with the sun dresses out for the women and men in suit and ties at Keeneland Horse Race Track. I only bet one horse, who proceeded to come in last. I spent the rest of my day taking in the sweet, sweet juices of bourbon and then had dinner with a high school friend. Thoroughly enjoyable.

In college football news, Ohio State is revamping its offense under new coordinator Kevin Wilson, Alabama running back Bo Scarbrough is close to full speed again, and Louisville quarterback Kyle Bolin has decided to transfer. Here are some other newsworthy notes in the latest college football news roundup.

Not Starter Yet – Returning starter Shane Buechele was impressive in Texas’ spring game, but head coach Tom Herman will not go as far as to name him the starter yet for the Longhorns in 2017.

“I think a healthy fear of losing your job is just that: healthy,” Herman said. “Shane knows we have a lot of confidence in him, and Shane did a lot of things really well this spring. But to say he’s won the job in 12 padded practices, when he doesn’t even get hit, that would be a bit premature.”

A Lot of Buckeyes – We all know that Ohio State fans are crazy about football, but they have gone and proven it again, selling out all 82,000 tickets for the Buckeyes spring game.

“We’re very fortunate to watch guys perform in front of a lot of people in the seats, a lot of people in the stands,” head coach Urban Meyer said Friday. “It is different. The ability to focus and not tighten up in front of a big crowd, for some guys it doesn’t matter and for other guys it does. So I always like to see that, especially with our new players. I love it. I love the fact these kids get to play in front of a group like that.”

Party In The Back – Mike Gundy refuses to cut his hair, and the outcome has given us one of the most glorious mullets in the history of coaching. Just look at this thing. It is amazing.
