A college football news roundup that includes Tom Herman hiring a defensive coordinator at Texas and Nick Saban finding Alabama’s next offensive coordinator.

I went curling this past weekend and must say that I have a certain knack for throwing the stones. You need a guy to lead off and get one in the circle? I’m him. Need someone to play defense and block? Yeah, I can do that too. My role as a closer when the pressure is on the line is at an all-time high. The US Men’s Team needs to call and start vetting me for the 2018 Winter Olympics. I’m already way better than former skipper John Shuster.

In college football news, Clemson is using former quarterback Tajh Boyd to emulate Ohio State’s J.T. Barrett in practice leading up to the Fiesta Bowl, Al Borges will be interviewing for the Notre Dame offensive coordinator position, and San Diego State running back Donnel Pumphrey broke the FBS record for career rushing yards. Here are some other newsworthy notes in the latest college football news roundup.

Following to Austin – New Texas head coach Tom Herman is in the process of putting together his coaching staff, and there will be a familiar face running the defense, as Houston defense coordinator Todd Orlando is following his boss to the Longhorns.

Saban At It Again – Let’s just face it: Alabama head coach Nick Saban has everything under control and we are all just pawns in his game called life.

After offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin decided to accept the FAU head coaching position starting next season, it didn’t take long for Saban to find a new guy to coach his offense: Steve Sarkisian. Sarkisian was brought in this season as an offensive analyst on the Crimson Tide staff.

Kill Back On Sidelines – Jerry Kill, who was last on the sidelines as the head coach of Minnesota before resigning in 2015, is expected to become the Rutgers offensive coordinator.

The position might not last long. The Scarlet Knights have had eight different offensive coordinators in as many years.
