A college football roundup that includes Alabama and Ohio State being early favorites in the College Football Playoff semifinals and Michigan’s Jim Harbaugh still ranting about The Game.

The college football regular season is over (with the exception of Army-Navy this weekend), and it is bittersweet as we have to wait a couple of weeks for the start of bowl games and then … nothing. Just a barren landscape of three months until spring practice rolls around and we hear the cracking of the pads again. College football is awesome.

In college football news, the playoff matchups have been set, we take a look at who finished the season on a hot streak and who didn’t, and Michigan players Jabrill Peppers and Jake Butt reacted to missing the playoff. Here are some other newsworthy notes in the latest college football news roundup.

Alabama, Ohio State Early Favorites – The defending champion Crimson Tide are big favorites in their semifinal matchup in Atlanta against Washington, as the oddsmakers have Alabama from 11-to-14-point favorites against the Huskies. The Ohio State and Clemson matchup should be a little closer, according to Vegas, as the Buckeyes begin as 3-point favorites.

Get Over It – Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh will not let the ending of the Ohio State game go, as he continued rambling on about it on Sunday night.

“I still don’t accept it as a given that you can’t speak your mind and give your opinion on how you see things,” he said. “If telling the truth makes things worse, then so be it.”

Hey, Coach: your college-aged kids are handling this way better than you. Maybe you could take a lesson from them.

Sorry, Hokies – After Arkansas head coach Bret Bielema accidentally left Virginia Tech off of his Coaches Poll ballot, the Razorbacks issued a statement apologizing to the Hokies.

“Coach Bielema takes great pride in being part of the coaches’ poll and thoroughly goes over the national results every week before developing his vote,” Arkansas said in a prepared statement. “The Arkansas Razorbacks sincerely apologize to the Virginia Tech football program and the coaches’ poll for the mistake in submitting that vote this week.”

Looks like some lackey who is in charge of issuing the coach’s vote will be reprimanded this week for the mistake.

Derek Willis (Yes, Derek Willis!) Throws It Down

Kentucky’s Derek Willis is known for his outside shooting ability, but he showed Big Blue Nation that he can dunk too. The Wildcats’ bench (including De’Aaron Fox, who left with an ankle injury) was up in arms when Willis threw it down in UK’s 85-69 win over No. 24 South Carolina.
