A college football news roundup that includes the passing of Heisman Trophy winner Rashaan Salaam and the wrong Matt Rhule getting blasted on Twitter.

We had a company meeting yesterday about insurance and benefits and all that stuff that you get when you are employed. I didn’t understand a word the extremely nice woman said, as I am beyond moronic when it comes to PPOs and HMOs and ATLs and GEDs and all that stuff. Luckily, we have a kick-ass HR director that helped me fill out the forms in seconds.

In college football news, Matt Rhule has been hired as the head coach at Baylor, Willie Taggart is headed to OregonJarrett Stidham comments on the three schools trying to woo him to their respective campuses, and Oklahoma offensive coordinator Lincoln Riley impressed the powers-to-be at Houston when interviewing for the head coaching position. Here are some other newsworthy notes in the latest college football news roundup.

RIP, Rashaan –Rashaan Salaam, who won the 1994 Heisman Trophy after a terrific season playing at running back for the Colorado Buffaloes, was found dead in a parking lot on Tuesday in Boulder, less than two miles from Folsom Field where he was a star on the gridiron.

“The Buff Family has lost an outstanding young man and a great Buff today,” Colorado athletic director Rick George. “We are heartbroken for Rashaan and his family, and our thoughts and prayers are with them at this very difficult time.”

Salaam was just 42 years old.

Wrong Handle, Bro – As stated up top, Matt Rhule decided to leave Temple for the head coaching position at Baylor, so many angry people took to Twitter to express their ire at @MattRhule. The problem? The guy that owns that account is a different Matt Rhule.

“I am a high school student. I am not a football coach.”

That is what the other Matt Rhule who has the account tweeted. Sorry, man. At least you probably gained some followers.

Big Get For Tennessee – The No. 4 offensive tackle in the 2017 recruiting class, Trey Smith, has decided to stay in his home state as he announced his commitment to the University of Tennessee on Tuesday in a press conference. This could help the Volunteers gain some much-needed momentum after a season that saw multiple injuries, player departures, and a couple of bad losses.

Derek Willis (Yes, Derek Willis!) Throws It Down

Kentucky’s Derek Willis is known for his outside shooting ability, but he showed Big Blue Nation that he can dunk too. The Wildcats’ bench (including De’Aaron Fox, who left with an ankle injury) was up in arms when Willis threw it down in UK’s 85-69 win over No. 24 South Carolina.
