A college football news roundup that includes Jim Harbaugh’s feud with Paul Finebaum and a former Miami star donating money to the Hurricanes.

I have a beef with some people, and it has to do with them griping about me for not taking enough pictures while I was on vacation in Europe recently. Here’s the thing: no matter what sort of angle or lighting I have with my camera (yes, it is my iPhone), it won’t come out as well as seeing it in person. You can’t get the sense of the history, atmosphere and everything else from a picture. Sorry, everyone. I suppose I will try better next time.

In college football news, former Alabama quarterback Blake Barnett has an interesting explanation for why he lost the starting job to Jalen Hurts, the Crimson Tide coaching staff gets shaken up some more, UAB head coach Bill Clark is ready to get the program going again, and we envision a TV series where Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn and Ole Miss head coach Hugh Freeze play cops. Here are some other newsworthy notes in the latest college football news roundup.

Jim Harbaugh’s Feud With Finebaum – Welcome back to the offseason, folks. A time it seems Jim Harbaugh is going to dominate once again.

Harbaugh dropped a tweet, calling out “Pete” Finebaum, that turned some heads on Thursday night. One has to believe Pete, instead of Paul, was strategically planned. This comes after Finebaum said Harbaugh was cheating because he hired a high school coach, who just so happens to be the father of a top 2019 quarterback recruit.

Miami Style – It is good when alumni give back, especially when they made millions playing football in the NFL. Former Miami Hurricane Jon Beason has donated $250,000 to the university to build an indoor practice facility, one of the main things head coach Mark Richt emphasized was needed when he accepted the job.

“Even back when I was a student-athlete at Miami, I thought about one day being able to give back. I’m proud to be able to make this gift, which will directly influence and impact young people’s lives,” Beason said. “By donating to this project, I am able to support the dreams of young men like myself and allow them to excel as student-athletes at the University of Miami.”

New Michigan Digs – The University of Michigan Board of Regents has approved for the football program to start renovating its weight room, with the tab coming in at $21 million. The Wolverines plan include a weight room that is 32,000 square feet and a mezzanine level.

Flames Moving UpLiberty University has announced that it will move up from FCS to the FBS ranks in 2018, and then the Flames will be bowl eligible starting in 2019. During the two-year reclassification progress, Liberty will play as an independent.
