College football recruiting rankings update as of October 12, 2016 find a new team at the top of the heap.

You can wipe your eyes. You can blink and squint, but what you’re seeing is real. Ohio State has been knocked off the perch of having the 2017 recruiting cycle’s No. 1 class.

That honor now belongs to Bob Stoops’ Oklahoma Sooners, who slid up from No. 1 to the top spot on Wednesday after they landed 4-star recruit Jacob Phillips, the No. 7 inside linebacker in the nation.

His pledge added 213 recruiting points to Oklahoma’s total, bringing it to 3,854 points, three points ahead of Urban Meyer’s Buckeyes. Subsequently, Alabama fell from No. 2 to No. 3, and there’s a chance the Crimson Tide could fall further. Najee Harris, the No. 1 overall player and No. 1 running back in the 2017 cycle, is looking to take all five of his official visits and is on the fence about his commitment to Alabama. Jim Harbaugh’s Wolverines are the main contender to flip Harris from the Tide.

Clemson is also back in the top 10 after it landed 4-star prospect Justin Foster on Tuesday. Foster is the No. 16 outside linebacker and No. 199 overall player in the country. His decision gave the Tigers 204 recruiting points, which aligned with Michigan losing a commitment from 2-star inside linebacker Chase Lasater. His decommitment not only helped Clemson move up, but it played a role in the Wolverines having dropped from No. 9 to No. 10.

Below are the current top 25 teams for the college football recruiting rankings.
