4-Star LB Drew Singleton Commits to Michigan

Four-star linebacker Drew Singleton committed to Michigan on Friday, giving the Wolverines two pledges from outside linebackers in as many days.

On Friday evening, the Michigan Wolverines pulled their latest commit from Paramus Catholic High School in New Jersey. Four-star linebacker Drew Singleton will join the ranks of Jabrill Peppers and Rashan Gary in a pipeline flowing west to Ann Arbor.

The fact that Singleton’s former head coach, Chris Partridge, will be his position coach at Michigan. Singleton told Rivals that his relationship with Partridge was a large factor in his commitment decision.

“It’s obviously a really good feeling because I’ll know my position coach personally,” he said. “Honestly, I really love the school for itself. Coach Partridge is just a bonus. It definitely gives me a warm feeling and a comfort knowing that I know my position coach personally since I started playing high school football.”

Singleton is the No. 1 outside linebacker in the state of New Jersey, No. 4 OLB nationally and the No. 72-overall player in the 2017 class. His commitment completes a nice back-to-back linebacker coup for the Wolverines, who landed star linebacker Jordan Anthony out of IMG Academy on Thursday evening. It also bookended a week that began with 4-star defensive end Deron Irving-Bey and 4-star center Cesar Ruiz committing on Monday.

Michigan now sits at No. 2 in the recruiting class rankings, behind only Alabama. No team in the nation has more 4-star recruits (18) than the Wolverines.
