A Florida Gators football recruiting update for the week of December 26, 2016.

The recruiting dead period has seemingly brought more questions than answers for the Gators.

One of those questions regards the status of 4-star cornerback Elijah Blades’ commitment, as Florida is trying to prevent him from flipping to USC or Nebraska. However, even if Blades does flip, Florida is in a great position to land 4-star athletes Christopher Henderson and Tray Bishop, both of whom will likely play defensive back at the next level.

The Gators did get some great news on Sunday, though, as they landed a commitment from 4-star recruit T.J. Moore, the No. 31 offensive tackle in the nation. Moore, who attends Mallard Creek High School in Charlotte, spoke with former Florida offensive lineman D.J. Humphries about playing in Gainesville. Humphries, who also attended Mallard Creek, helped sell Moore on the idea of playing in The Swamp.

And, as 2016 comes to a close, there could also be more good news looming.

Florida has increased its effort in the recruitment of 4-star wide receiver James Robinson, and it appears the Gators will beat out Oklahoma for his commitment as long as they are able to get Robinson on campus in January.

There’s also a long shot for the Gators to nab a couple of 5-star prospects. Tedarrell Slaton, the No. 2 offensive guard and No. 34 overall player, is considering a few schools, with Florida having to battle Florida State and Miami for him. McElwain’s staff will also have to duke it out with Georgia and Michigan for Aubrey Solomon, the No. 2 defensive tackle and No. 20 overall player in the country.

Again, it’s not likely Florida gets either player, but there is still a chance the Gators pull something out before National Signing Day.
