Florida vs. Georgia prediction and game preview. Projecting who wins the SEC East matchup between the Gators and Bulldogs.

Florida vs. UGA Game Preview

When: Saturday, October 29 – 3:30 p.m. ET
Where: EverBank Field, Jacksonville, FL
TV Broadcast: CBS

Both teams enjoyed bye weeks heading into the annual rivalry game in Jacksonville, but Florida probably enjoyed it a lot more. Despite the offense still struggling, the Gators are 5-1 and control their destiny in the SEC East. Georgia, on the other hand, has experienced some growing pains, including a 17-16 loss to Vanderbilt on October 15. The emotions will be high for the World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party.

What To Know About Florida

Quarterback Luke Del Rio returned from injury in the win against Missouri and went out and threw three interceptions. This isn’t exactly what head coach Jim McElwain was expecting, and Del Rio will have to be better against Georgia. The rushing attack, which has been mediocre this season, finally showed up in the win, gaining 287 yards on the ground as both Lamical Perine and Jordan Scarlett went for over 100 yards.

The defense is once again dominant, and it starts with the secondary duo of Jalen Tabor and Quincy Wilson. Georgia freshman quarterback Jacob Eason will have a hard time finding open receivers against the Gators.

What to Know About Georgia

Eason will face a fierce pass rush and the aforementioned secondary, the biggest task of his young career. The Bulldogs will try and take pressure off of him with the run game featuring Nick Chubb and Sony Michel, who were nowhere to be seen in the loss to Vanderbilt, rushing for a combined 68 yards and no touchdowns.

The Bulldogs have been greedy against the run, allowing only 111.14 yards per game. Shutting down the Gators on the ground and putting the pressure on Del Rio to win the game with his arm would be an ideal situation.

Advantages

Offense: Georgia. The combination of Chubb and Michel can be explosive.

Defense: Florida. The Gators have relied on their defense to win games the last two seasons.

Special Teams: Florida. Kicker Eddy Pineiro’s leg is a major weapon.

Coaching: Tie. Granted, it is only his first season in charge, but Kirby Smart will win big in Athens.

Intangibles: Tie. These two teams do not like each other, and this rivalry game means a lot.

Florida vs. Georgia Prediction

This is the Florida-Georgia game, and you never know what is going to happen when these two teams get together. Florida has a lot on the line, while the Bulldogs have nothing to lose. Expect Georgia to come out playing loose and take an early lead, but the Florida defense will make a couple of plays to turn the momentum toward their side and the Gators pick up a major rivalry win.

Florida vs. Georgia Score Prediction: Florida 28, Georgia 20
