Florida vs. Georgia Prediction Roundtable – What’s Going to Happen

Florida vs. Georgia prediction roundtable with the Campus Insiders staff. Breaking down what will happen in Saturday’s rivalry matchup between the Gators and Bulldogs.

Jeff Bartl

I work in an office with three Florida fans, so I’d like to pick Georgia just to get them riled up. But alas, the Gators have too much for the disappointing Bulldogs, who have lost three of their last four. Florida’s secondary picks off young gunslinger Jacob Eason twice and gets enough from its offense to win by a couple of touchdowns.

Jonathan Bass

Florida’s defense is simply too strong to lose this game. Jacob Eason will continue experiencing growing pains, as he’s pressured into uncomfortable situations once the running game is stifled. Florida’s offense remains a train wreck, but as the Gators proved against Missouri the defense can score enough points to win a game.

Robert Judin

Uh oh … *cracks knuckles* let’s dive into this one, shall we. Jacob Eason is the future in Athens. Get used to it. However, he’s going up against the best secondary in all of college football. Jalen Tabor isn’t the only threat in the third level. Quincy Wilson has emerged as a potential first-round pick, too. With Marcus Maye and Marcell Harris playing over the middle, throwing on Florida is one of the toughest things to do this season. Nick Chubb will have himself a day because Jarrad Davis is still a little banged up and the Gators’ defensive line hasn’t been as solid as it has been in years past – especially with Bryan Cox Jr. out. Luke Del Rio will do enough to win the game, and this will be the real breakout game for Lamical Perine. Florida wins, 34-21.

Dave Miller

The World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party (yes, it will always be referred to as such) has SEC East implications, but it’s been a disappointing first year thus far for Georgia head coach Kirby Smart. Florida has the top passing defense, total defense and scoring defense in the SEC, so it could be a tough day for the Bulldogs offense. We’ll see gifted Dawgs freshman quarterback Jacob Eason make some good throws, but that UF defense is too tough. And the Gators will find plenty of room on the ground against the Georgia defensive front. Jim McElwain gets the win as UF tries to close out the SEC East.

John Beers

Florida comes in playing the better football, but at this point a win against their biggest rival is all Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs have left to play for and a desperate team is always a dangerous team. Nick Chubb is the best offensive player on either team and should have a bounceback game after a disappointing 40 yards in an upset loss to Vandy. Ultimately, Florida’s elite secondary will win the day against freshman gunslinger Jacob Eason in similar fashion to how they took over the Missouri game. It won’t be comfortable for the Gators as they’ll have to take every shot Georgia can dish out and the game will be decided by a fourth quarter score.

Brian Stultz

Going to this game would be on top of every college football fan’s bucket list if the game wasn’t played in Jacksonville: the Houston of Florida. Gators head coach Jim McElwain would rather be tailgating with the fans in the parking lot, throwing back Busch Light, and playing a little Jimmy Buffett on the guitar, but daggumit, it is his job to coach. Gators win.

Jim Harbaugh Really Loves A Florida State Tradition

Jim Harbaugh could not stop raving about a Florida State tradition during his introductory Orange Bowl press conference Wednesday afternoon. The Michigan head coach was so animated about it, he may have convinced Jimbo Fisher to try and make the Orange Bowl feel a little more like Tallahassee.
