Florida vs. LSU prediction roundtable with the Campus Insiders staff. Breaking down what will happen during Saturday’s game between the Gators and Tigers.
This game is going to be boring. Like, both teams are starting former Purdue quarterbacks boring. Florida’s offense is horrible, but its defense is good enough to make LSU’s offense sputter. Austin Appleby will throw a late interception to make Leonard Fournette’s two touchdowns hold up in LSU’s 14-10 win.
Austin Appleby surprised me last weekend. I really didn’t think he’d play that well, but he’ll have a much harder time against LSU than he did against South Carolina. Jamal Adams is going to cause fits, and the Tigers will stifle the Florida quarterback. However, the Gators will do the same to LSU’s passing game.
This one is going to be ugly. Leonard Fournette and Derrius Guice won’t explode for 250-plus rushing yards, but they will each find the end zone. I think the Gators manufacture some points with their defense and somehow pull off a win on an Eddy Pineiro field goal.
Perhaps things would play out differently if this game took place in Gainesville as the original schedule had it slated. But circumstances changed, and the Gators now have to go on the road to match up with a squad that is playing very good football. UF is banged-up, and the physical wear and tear will show as Tigers running backs Derrius Guice and Leonard Fournette lead the Bayou Bengals to a win in Death Valley.
I’m quite certain that Jim McElwain uses the weekly SEC teleconference calls to practice his stand-up routine, because sometimes he misses the target and you can just sense everyone looking at their phones with utter disdain. He’s goofy.
Florida has too many injuries, but this one will be close. I’m taking LSU, and all chaos breaking out in Knoxville as Tennessee possibly earns a second chance to get their butts handed to them by Alabama.
