Top Starkville, Mississippi recruit Willie Gay has named a leader for his services.

It appears the trip to Michigan for 4-star outside linebacker Willie Gay is paying dividends for the Wolverines. Gay, who was committed to his home-state Ole Miss Rebels for just over four months, decommitted on Oct. 24, the Monday after visiting Ann Arbor.

“I would like to thank all the Ole Miss fans and [the] coaching staff for the love and support these past few months,” Gay posted to social media. “But after talking with my mom and praying on it, I have decided to decommit from the University of Mississippi.”

Two weeks later and Gay has now named Michigan the leader in his recruitment, according to Chad Simmons of Scout.com.

While the Wolverines are the clear-cut favorite at this time, Ole Miss is still listed among his top schools, along with Florida, LSU and Mississippi State. Gay attends Starkville High School in the Bulldogs’ backyard.

Gay is listed as the nation’s No. 88 overall prospect and No. 6 outside linebacker. He checks in at 6’1.5″ and 215 pounds.
