Florida State quarterback Malik Henry will reportedly transfer away from the program after one season with the Seminoles.

About a year after signing his National Letter of Intent to play for the Seminoles, Malik Henry has apparently had enough of Tallahassee.

The freshman quarterback will transfer from Florida State, according to 247Sports, who reached out to the Henry family to confirm the news.

“I have decided to transfer from Florida State University,” Henry said. “I want to thank Coach Fisher and his staff for giving me the opportunity to be a student-athlete at FSU. I wish him and the team nothing but success. At this time, I don’t know what University I will be attending in the future.”

At this time, no official word or confirmation has come from Florida State. However, the potential avenue for Henry’s transfer was seen earlier this fall. After performing well in the spring game with 205 passing yards and two touchdowns, Henry was passed over for the starting job this past season and was suspended in August for violating team rules.

Instead, the job went to redshirt freshman Deondre Francois, who completed 60.6 percent of his passes for 3,128 yards, 18 touchdowns and six interceptions this past fall while leading the ‘Noles to a 9-3 record.

FSU finished in third place in the ACC’s Atlantic division and is scheduled to face Michigan in the Capital One Orange Bowl on Dec. 30.

Henry, who is originally from Long Beach, California, held offers from a number of Power Five programs including Michigan, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Tennessee, Texas and Texas A&M. However, it is likely a move back to the West Coast is in order. Both UCLA and USC had scholarship offers on the table when Henry enrolled early with FSU last year.
