Four-Star WR Jacob Copeland Talks Top Two Schools

Four-star wide receiver Jacob Copeland talks his top two schools after his latest visit.

As a 2018 prospect, Pine Forest High School (Pensacola, Florida) wide receiver Jacob Copeland still has a ways to go in his recruitment, but he is already narrowing in on his favorites.

Copeland was in Gainesville for the Florida Gators’ game against the South Carolina Gamecocks, where he got to see Jim McElwain’s offense up close. He came away impressed with what he saw, and currently has Florida in his top two along with the Clemson Tigers.

Copeland likes how both teams’ offenses operate.

“It’s the way the offenses are set up,” Copeland said. “They pass the ball a lot.”

Florida’s timing couldn’t have been more perfect with Copeland in town. With backup quarterback Austin Appleby filling in for starter Luke Del Rio, the Gators looked the part on offense. Appleby regularly delivered the ball to playmakers in space, giving them the ability to work in open field. The offense was a far cry from previous weeks.

Copeland would be a big-time pull for McElwain, especially because he’s from the panhandle, a recruiting area that typically favors the likes of Alabama and Florida State. He’s rated as a four-star prospect and ranked as the nation’s No. 80 overall player and No. 11 wide receiver for 2018.
