Florida athletic director Jeremy Foley slammed the LSU athletic department for how they handled the rescheduling of the Gators-Tigers matchup.

The game might be rescheduled, but it seems that Florida isn’t exactly happy with how LSU handled the negotiations.

In a statement, Florida athletic director Jeremy Foley slammed the leadership in Baton Rouge.

“The conference office asked us to find a solution in working with LSU, yet LSU was never a true partner in our discussions,” Foley said in the statement. “The SEC offered some other solutions and LSU administration made it clear that they were unwilling to consider other reasonable options.”

The game was originally slated to be played on October 8 in Gainesville, but with the rescheduling, the Gators will now travel to Baton Rouge and play in one of college football’s most intimidating environments, Tiger Stadium.

Florida head coach Jim McElwain said he isn’t worried about who he plays or where the game is played at.

“As I’ve said all along – we will play anyone, anywhere, anytime,” McElwain said. “I think I’ve made that pretty clear. The Gators never run from or dodge anyone.”

One of the reasons LSU was adamant on playing in Baton Rouge was so they would not lose a game of home revenue. The Tigers were supposed to play South Alabama in Tiger Stadium on that day. Florida also had a home date scheduled against Presbyterian.

LSU athletic director Joe Alleva was adamant earlier this week that the Tigers would not give up the home game.

“One thing that we’re going to hold very firm on is that we have a home game November 19,” Alleva said.

With the shot fired by Foley, it will be interesting to see how LSU and the SEC respond.
