Four-star running back Kelan Walker committed to the Houston Cougars on Friday afternoon, becoming the program’s first commitment for the 2018 class.

Four-star running back Kalen Walker committed to the Houston Cougars on Friday afternoon. Out of Desoto, Texas, Walker is the No. 3 running back in the state, and No. 22 back overall.

He announced his decision via Twitter:

“I would first love to thank God for this beautiful opportunity and say that I’m like committing to THE University of Houston because of how great of an opportunity it is. The city of Houston, the fans, the teammates and the coaches. I would also love to thank my wonderful parents who’ve raised me into the great young man that I am today. I would also love to thank my coaches for putting in their time for me as a StudentAthlete. When I went down for Junior day I was positive that I fell in Love with Houston and me being able to share that with my parents was amazing … this also a blessing and it only comes once in a lifetime. H-TOWN TAKEOVER [sic]”

Walker’s commitment comes less than a month after he was offered by Houston, which came on January 8. Not necessarily quick, Walker does have excellent top speed. He’s a one-cut back who runs north-south incredibly well and is a threat at the goal line.

Walker is the first commitment for Houston’s 2018 class.
