LoL D2/D3 Spring and Playoffs Info

Spring groups are made and matches are generated. Please read the following for general information regarding what to expect in Spring groups and the playoffs. This information is only for Divisions 2 and 3. Division 1/uLoL Campus Series will have a separate post when it is live – we have already sent out an email to the registered teams about the delay as well.

As stated in the rules, the groups are now mixed between regions and teams were seeded by their Fall standings into the new groups; the better your team performed in the Fall, the lower the seeds you will be competing against in your new groups, and additionally, teams that had more than 2 forfeits/unreported matches were removed from both Division 2 and Division 3 for the Spring portion; there were a significant amount of removed teams, so the group distribution was adjusted accordingly. Hopefully this rule will prevent a good amount of forfeits going forward into the Spring so that everyone can play as many matches as possible.

As a clarifying note, for Division 3 all players must be CURRENTLY ranked gold or lower in either flex OR solo (does not need to be ranked in both, but if both are ranked, then they both must be gold or lower). Players cannot be completely unranked as before as well.

In Division 2, the top 4 teams in each of the 32 groups will advance to a 128-team single elimination playoff bracket.

In Division 3, the top 3 teams in each of the 20 groups + 4 wildcards will advance to a 64-team single elimination playoff bracket. The wildcards will be selected from the next highest ranked teams in the groups with 7 teams.

As a reminder, every individual set counts! Playoff contention is often decided by set differentials and head-to-head results as there are normally a few tied records, so make sure to get as many individual wins as possible (2-0s are better than 2-1! and 1-2s are better than 0-2s!), and of course report every match or it becomes a double forfeit.

Currently there are no monetary prizes for Divisions 2 and 3; if we are able to obtain sponsored prizes (peripherals, etc) we will let you know.

If you have any questions, you can always email us at or speak to an admin live on BAND during our weekly help desk on Mondays at 6-7pm PST (first weekly help desk for Spring starts this coming Monday 1/9).
