Nebraska landed a pledge from four-star wide receiver Manuel Allen. He continues the strong Cornhuskers pipeline to California.

Mike Riley is loving the state of California these days.

The Nebraska head coach is putting together a strong 2018 recruiting class thus far, with California continuing to be a focal point. The Cornhuskers added to their crop of talent on Saturday, receiving a pledge from four-star wide receiver Manuel Allen.

The talented product from Corona, CA, has been in Lincoln the past couple of days, and he obviously has been enjoying his visit. He had been a USC commit up until February 24, but he’s choosing to leave his home state to play for a Big Ten West squad that has been crushing it on the recruiting trail under Riley. UCLA, Oregon and Ole Miss were the other main schools involved with Allen.

The 6-foot-1, 175-pounder’s pledge comes on the same day as Nebraska’s spring game and a day after the Cornhuskers landed a commitment from four-star cornerback Brendan Radley-Hiles.

Allen is one of the better wide receivers in the entire state of California, and he had 19 total offers. Ohio State was the only other Big Ten program to show interest. He is the fourth four-star recruit to join Nebraska’s 2018 class, joining Radley-Hiles, tight end Cameron Jurgens and wide receiver Eric Fuller.

Nebraska brought in three players from the state of California in its 2017 class, including four-star defensive back Elijah Blades and three-star wide receiver Keyshawn Johnson Jr. Fuller is a 2018 commit who is also from California, with Allen becoming the second.
