Former Trojans quarterback Max Browne will transfer from USC to Pitt after three seasons in Los Angeles.

Three seasons in Los Angeles were enough for Max Browne. It was announced two weeks ago that the former 5-star prospect would be leaving the Trojans and exploring transfer options.

Well, it turns out the option he liked the best was in the ACC. Browne announced on Thursday that he will transfer from USC to Pitt and join Pat Narduzzi’s Panthers. He’ll be eligible to play immediately in 2017 due to graduate transfer rules.

In 14 total games with the Trojans, Browne completed 61.6 percent of his passes for 650 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. He began the 2016 season as USC’s starting quarterback but led the team to disappointing start, as it lost two of its first three games.

Browne was pulled in favor of Sam Darnold in the Trojans’ 27-10 loss to Stanford on Sept. 17. After being handed the starting job, Darnold led the team to an 8-1 record to finish the season. Now, USC will face Penn State in the Rose Bowl.

As for Browne’s future team, well, things went quite well for Pitt. In his second season at the helm, Narduzzi led the Panthers to an 8-4 mark. In 2015, Pitt finished at 8-5 but fell to Navy in the Military Bowl. Browne’s transfer also comes on the heels of Pitt offensive coordinator Matt Canada taking the same job at LSU.

While the Panthers will finish this season by taking on Northwestern in the Pinstripe Bowl, the future will be in Browne’s hands. There are five quarterbacks on the roster right now, but two of them will be graduating and moving on: redshirt seniors Nathan Peterman and Manny Stocker.

The Panthers will have underclassmen Ben DiNucci, Thomas MacVittie and Bo Schneider still on the roster next season — barring transfers.

There is also only one quarterback committed in Pitt’s 2017 recruiting class, and that’s 2-star prospect Kenny Pickett.

Derek Willis (Yes, Derek Willis!) Throws It Down

Kentucky’s Derek Willis is known for his outside shooting ability, but he showed Big Blue Nation that he can dunk too. The Wildcats’ bench (including De’Aaron Fox, who left with an ankle injury) was up in arms when Willis threw it down in UK’s 85-69 win over No. 24 South Carolina.
