Navy vs. USF Prediction Roundtable – What’s Going To Happen

Navy vs. USF prediction roundtable with the Campus Insiders staff. Breaking down what will happen in Friday night’s game between the Midshipmen and Bulls.

Jonathan Bass

I’m going with Navy here. The Midshipmen feature one of the country’s best rushing attacks (293.17 yards, No. 4 nationally), and are going up against USF’s porous rushing defense (No. 100 nationally). The Bulls are no slouches on the ground (255.5 rushing yards per game), but Quinton Flowers is dinged up, which will hamper things a bit. Ken Niumatalolo’s squad rolls in an entertaining, high-scoring Friday night game down in Tampa.

Robert Judin

Quinton Flowers is expected to play in spite of a hamstring injury, so we’ll have to watch how he looks as the game progresses. But if he’s really okay to go, he’s going to be the x-factor for USF here. Navy is allowing 148 rushing yards per game, and the Midshipmen are going to allow at least 125 rushing yards to the Bulls. A lot of that will come from Flowers, but Marion Mack will take some of that off his plate and find the end zone a couple of times. Willie Taggart drives the bus toward a USF win. Plus, I’d feel awful if I went against my good friend Kaylee, who works for the Bulls’ media department. She’d chirp in my ear about it if I did.

Dave Miller

South Florida was unable to contain the Temple ground game last week, as the Owls put up 319 rushing yards against the Bulls. That doesn’t bode well for a defense that will see a Navy triple-option attack led by Will Worth, who helps lead the No. 4 ground game in the country. The Midshipmen will be able to play ball-control and get their fair share of yards, but expect Willie Taggart’s squad to be prepared. Quinton Flowers and Marlon Mack will be able to get their fair share of yards, and the USF defense gets one key late stop that makes the difference.

Brian Stultz

USF gave up 319 yards rushing to Temple. Lord knows what Navy’s rushing attack will be able to do. I’m all aboard (pun intended) the Navy ship, and quarterback Will Worth is the reason why. (I also lived in Annapolis for a summer in 2002, and that town rocks.) USF quarterback Quinton Flowers is a do-it-all guy under center, but I’m trusting the Midshipmen to get the job done once again. Anchors Aweigh!
