Nebraska Football Recruiting Update – April 16, 2017

Nebraska football recruiting update as of April 16, 2017. Mike Riley dipped into California once again to add to the Cornhuskers’ 2018 recruiting class.

Mike Riley’s Cornhuskers are surging on the recruiting trail right now, and it’s because of the slew of commitments they reeled in this past weekend.

After managing to flip 4-star cornerback Elijah Blades from Florida toward the end of the 2017 recruiting cycle, Riley’s staff positioned itself greatly for a chance at 4-star cornerback Bookie Radley-Hiles. The two are close friends from their time spent in California, and both were warming up to the idea of teaming up with the Gators.

But Blades’ move to Nebraska swung the door open for the Cornhuskers to reel in Radley-Hiles, who committed to Nebraska on Friday, about three months earlier than he was originally planning to announce his commitment.

A day later, the Cornhuskers added to the offensive side of the ball when 4-star wide receiver Manuel Allen committed to Nebraska. Allen is a native of Corona, California, thus strengthening the young pipeline from the Golden State to Lincoln.

Also on Saturday, the Huskers picked up their first pledge of their 2019 recruiting class when 4-star athlete Marquez Beason chose Nebraska over Arkansas, LSU, Oklahoma and Texas A&M.

By Sunday afternoon, Nebraska had added one more pledge to its 2018 board when 3-star defensive end Tate Wilderman committed to Riley’s team as well.
