Ohio State vs. Michigan State prediction roundtable with the Campus Insiders staff. Breaking down what will happen during Saturday’s game between the Buckeyes and Spartans.
Ezekiel Elliott is currently the NFL’s leading rusher. Yet, in last year’s meeting with Michigan State, Urban Meyer decided to give Elliott the ball only 12 times in a game played during a rainstorm. I’m not expecting Meyer to do something as stupid as that in this matchup, but I guess one never knows. Curtis Samuel is going to tear apart the Spartans’ secondary as the Buckeyes get some revenge with a blowout win.
Mark Dantonio has done a phenomenal job with the program in East Lansing, but this just hasn’t been a great year for Michigan State. J.T. Barrett will find Curtis Samuel for some big gains and a couple of touchdowns, and Mike Weber will tote the rock with ease. The Buckeyes win this one easily before heading into TTUN Hate Week.
If Sparty has any chance at an upset, L.J. Scott must have a huge day on the ground, and the defense must put up its best performance of the year. I think Scott could find some room on the ground early, but don’t expect a huge rushing number against the Buckeyes’ run defense. Meanwhile, J.T. Barrett and the offense might get a bit stifled early, but a few big plays in the second half will open things up as the Sparty defense wilts and the Buckeyes cruise to the victory.
I don’t think Mark Dantonio blinks. It is sort of freaky. Maybe he is actually sleeping with his eyes open. After all, that’s how his team has been playing this season.
Urban Meyer still remembers the 2013 Big Ten title game and last year’s upset in Columbus, so don’t expect him to show any mercy for the Spartans. Buckeyes win big.
