Pac-12 Bowl Tie-Ins, Selection Process

Pac-12 bowl tie-ins, as well selection criteria for each of the conference’s college football bowl games.

Despite being shutout of the College Football Playoff last postseason, the Pac-12 did relatively well, going 6-4 in all bowls—second only to the SEC bowl wins.

The success of Washington, along with the surprise cases of Washington State and Colorado mean that the Pac-12 may be able to emulate if not exceed that success in their seven bowl games this coming bowl season.

All of the Power 5 conferences will participate in a New Year’s Six bowl game under the current postseason structure, and for the Pac-12 champ that means assuming their usual place in the Rose Bowl. Should the Pac-12 champ be selected for the playoffs, the Rose Bowl would select among the remaining bowl-eligible Pac-12 teams.

The rest of the Bowl placement will be determined by a selection process that will stick to a hierarchy of bowl games. The first to select after the Rose Bowl is filled will be the Alamo Bowl, followed by the Holliday Bowl, then Foster Farms, Sun Bowl, Las Vegas Bowl and finally the Cactus Bowl.

Below is the schedule for all bowl games with Pac-12 tie-ins. For the purpose of this article, “Pac-12 No. 1” will represent the first selection slot after the conference champs.
