Patrick Surtain Jr. Recruiting Profile

CI 25 Overall Ranking: No. 8
CI 25 Position Ranking: No. 1
Hometown: Plantation, Florida
School: American Heritage High School
Position: CB
Height: 6’2″
Weight: 192 lbs

Playing Style

If you want to pick up coverage sacks, make sure you have Patrick Surtain Jr. roaming in the secondary. He’s superb in man coverage and displays extremely active hands. He has a knack for timing routes, and he rarely ever gives up on plays. He’s not a liability in run support either. Surtain is a do-it-all cornerback and can even make plays as a punt returner.

The natural fit is at LSU. Corey Raymond has developed plenty of young recruits and molded them into NFL superstars. Florida would be a close No. 2 with its ability to churn out elite defensive backs. Both Raymond and Corey Bell would help Surtain maximize his talents at the next level.

What They’re Saying

“Surtain is a fleet-footed cornerback that does a good job of sinking his hips and playing with suddenness, but when you add his prototypical size and length for a young defender, you have the makings of a potential five-star recruit. ” – Scout

“Has all the tools you expect of a 5-star, top 10 player in this class.” – Cameron Underwood, State Of The U

Recruitment Details

Status: Uncommitted
Notable Offers: Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, LSU, Miami, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, UCLA and USC

Recruiting Overview

With his dad, former Miami Dolphins and Kansas City Chiefs cornerback Patrick Surtain Sr., being from New Orleans, keeping the 5-star cornerback away from LSU is a tall task. Ed Orgeron’s staff will fight tooth and nail to get Surtain to Baton Rouge. With Corey Raymond leading the way, all signs point toward the Tigers landing the stud recruit.

Florida will do its best to sway Surtain away from LSU. With three of his former teammates on board (Marco Wilson, Tedarrell Slaton and James Houston IV) the Gators will use them to chirp in Surtain’s ear about why he should commit to Florida. Don’t bank on that happening. All signs point to LSU.

Tom Crean Deserved Better From Indiana

Tom Crean rebuilt the Indiana program, then became a victim of his own success. The school's administration - and the Hoosiers' fan base - owed him more than an undeserved dismissal.
