Projected AP Top 25 college football rankings heading into Week 7 of the season. The new AP Poll should resemble this when it is released.

The lone Top 10 matchup of the week did not disappoint on Saturday, as Tennessee stormed back from a 21-point deficit in College Station before ultimately falling in overtime to Texas A&M. The Vols once again put their fans through an emotional roller coaster, and it seemed as if Butch Jones and Co. were going to somehow pull out another win after putting themselves in such a big hole. But, Kevin Sumlin’s squad pulled it off, and all eyes are now on A&M’s showdown with Alabama in two weeks. However, the Crimson Tide will certainly need to be ready for the Vols next week in Knoxville.

Meanwhile, Houston had its College Football Playoff dreams crash and burn, and the Cougars may no longer be the favorites for a New Year’s Six spot either. Tom Herman’s squad fell to Navy, just one week after the Midshipmen lost to Air Force. Group of Five squads such as Boise State and Western Michigan pose serious threats for that one NY6 spot, and Houston has its back against the wall in the AAC now, too. But there is still a lot of football left to be played.

It will be interesting to see how far the Vols and Cougars fall, as they both played strong teams and suffered close losses.

Let’s take a look at how the new Associated Press Top 25 poll may look when it is released.

Note: The AP Top 25 will not be released until 12:30 p.m. ET on Monday because of the Georgia vs. South Carolina game being played Sunday due to Hurricane Matthew.
