Auburn defensive great Quentin Groves has died at the age of 32 after reportedly suffering a heart attack.

Quentin Groves was a ferocious pass rusher for the Auburn Tigers who put fear in every opposing quarterback’s mind.

Groves passed away after reportedly suffering a heart attack. He was 32 years old.

During his time on The Plains, Groves became a fan favorite not only because of his play on the field but also due to his outgoing personality and passion off of it. He was a sack specialist and still holds the school record with 26. The picture of him sacking Alabama quarterback John Parker Wilson remains a favorite image among many Auburn fans.

As a freshman in 2004, Groves was a key part of the undefeated Tigers, earning Freshman All-American First-Team honors. In the 2006 Iron Bowl, he helped contribute to the 11 sacks of Crimson Tide quarterback Brodie Croyle, a game that prompted the “Honk If You Sacked Brodie” bumper sticker that could be seen across the Yellowhammer State.

After the 2007 Iron Bowl, when Auburn made it six wins in a row over the rival Crimson Tide, Groves celebrated with the band in a reversal of “Rammer Jammer,” the song Alabama sings after defeating an opponent.

Before being drafted in the second round of the 2008 NFL Draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars, it was discovered during medical tests that Groves suffered from Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome, which causes a person to have a rapid hearbeat due to electrical impulses in the heart. He underwent surgery to help solve this before the draft.

Once in the NFL, Groves jumped between seven teams, never quite able to make the impact that was expected when coming out of college.

Current and former Auburn players took to Twitter to pay their respects for No. 54.

Derek Willis (Yes, Derek Willis!) Throws It Down

Kentucky’s Derek Willis is known for his outside shooting ability, but he showed Big Blue Nation that he can dunk too. The Wildcats’ bench (including De’Aaron Fox, who left with an ankle injury) was up in arms when Willis threw it down in UK’s 85-69 win over No. 24 South Carolina.
