Class of 2018 QB Dakereon Joyner is down to five schools for his services. The South Carolina native has the Gamecocks and others on his list.
South Carolina’s Gatorade Player of the Year has narrowed his college choice down to five schools.
Fort Dorchester (North Charleston, S.C.) quarterback Dakereon Joyner released his list of colleges via Twitter on Friday, and the hometown South Carolina Gamecocks made the cut.
Louisville, NC State, South Carolina, Georgia and Virginia Tech are on the list for the junior who threw for 3,642 yards and 44 touchdowns while also rushing for 1,089 yards and 12 scores this past season. Joyner threw for 253 yards and rushed for 174 more with three total TDs in the Patriots’ 49-24 season-ending loss.
In addition to being a great player at the high school level, the 2018 recruit has been a mentor to elementary-school students and has volunteered with the Special Olympics.
Scout lists the 6-foot-2, 197-pounder as a 4-star prospect that projects best as a WR, but it will be interesting to see if he sticks as a dual-threat quarterback when he signs his Letter of Intent, because he is one of the better dual-threat signal-callers in the country.
As of now, Joyner plans to announce his college choice on Father’s Day next year.
