Four-star running back T.J. Pledger committed to Oklahoma on Saturday, giving the Sooners five total commits in the 2018 recruiting class.
After making his way from West Hills, California to the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, 4-star recruit T.J. Pledger is planning on living out the next chapter of his life in Norman, Oklahoma.
On Saturday, Pledger committed to Oklahoma despite holding additional scholarship offers from Florida, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas, UCLA and USC, among others.
Pledger is ranked as the No. 3 running back and No. 20 overall player in the 2018 recruiting class. He released a brief statement regarding his decision to give the Sooners his commitment.
“Life is a gamble. Don’t be scared to take that risk. [I’m] 110 percent committed to the University of Oklahoma.”
With the addition of Pledger, Oklahoma now has five total commits in the cycle and is now up to No. 10 in the 2018 recruiting class rankings. The Sooners have the top recruiting class among Big 12 schools, though. The No. 2-ranked class within the conference is Kansas, who sits at No. 14 nationally.
At 5-foot-8, 200 lbs Pledger runs with great balance and has the ability to stop and cut on a dime without losing momentum or speed. He’s an instinctual tailback who runs decisively and can serve as a 3rd-down back with his ability to catch out of the backfield.
