Travin Dural’s 40-yard dash time at the NFL Combine, as the former LSU wide receiver looks to increase his draft stock.
Travin Dural is leaving LSU following his fifth-year senior season and a career that saw him battle injuries and inconsistent quarterback play.
The 6-foot-1, 206-pounder has a smooth stride, good leaping ability as well as the speed necessary to be a solid pro. But he has dealt with a knee injury, a severe hamstring injury and shoulder injury during his career, so NFL teams will want to make sure he is healthy entering this draft. Being labeled “injury-prone” is not the ideal route to playing on Sundays.
Dural was LSU’s second-leading receiver with 28 catches for 280 yards and one score in 2016, which are numbers that do not match his talent. Teammate Malachi Dupre is projected to go sooner in the 2017 NFL Draft because he’s more explosive, but Dural is a well-rounded receiver that could be a good player at the next level if healthy. The Bayou Bengals rarely ever lack talent at the wide receiver position, making their offensive struggles the last couple of seasons even more frustrating for Tiger fans.
On Saturday in Indianapolis, Dural sought to increase his draft stock at the NFL Combine, posting an unofficial 40-yard dash time of 4.58. The Combine is a marquee event for NFL hopefuls, with the 40 being just one event in which they will try to impress NFL GMs, coaches and scouts.
We’ll see where Dural goes in the NFL showcase event, as it takes place April 27-29 in Philadelphia.
