Despite receiving new interest from other power programs, Honolulu, Hawaii prospect Tua Tagovailoa is sticking firm on his Alabama commitment.

Four-star quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has been committed to Alabama since May 2, 2016, and that doesn’t appear to be changing. Despite receiving an offer from LSU this week, in the wake of Ed Orgeron’s hiring as the full-time head coach in Baton Rouge, Tagovailoa has reaffirmed that he is committed to Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide.

“I’m graduating early so that’s something I know,” Tagovailoa told USA TODAY following the Tigers’ offer. “I committed to Alabama. I gave them my word. That’s that. I talked to my parents about this LSU offer, and they have their quarterback committed already (four-star Louisiana senior Lowell Narcisse). If they’re really trying hard and interested in me we should be getting calls today or this week.”

“In a year, in a perfect world I still believe I’ll be at Alabama if everything works out the right way.”

Particular interest was made of the offer because of the SEC’s current coaching climate. Rumors have surfaced that Orgeron will target Alabama offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin to fill the same position at LSU. Orgeron and Kiffin are very good friends, and worked together in two different stints at USC, including the latter’s head coaching tenure with the Trojans.

However, Kiffin has yet to make a move or even discuss any such move with Saban. And, despite already having secured Tagovailoa’s commitment, Saban continues to recruit and stay connected to the nation’s No. 4 quarterback.

“I speak with Coach Saban on FaceTime every Sunday, and it does make me feel good that he’s committed to that with me and we have connected so much.”

Tagovailoa is one of two signal callers pledged to the Tide’s 2017 recruiting class, with four-star Mac Jones from Jacksonville, Florida being the other.
