uLoL Campus Series 2017 Season Details

We’re happy to announce the uLoL Campus Series launch with this fully comprehensive post. Read on to get all the season setup information you’ll need to feel prepared for the battles ahead!

Distribution and setup

Groups were seeded based on Riot’s MMR pull in zigzag/snake fashion. You can access the groups by clicking on the Standings page.

  • Group 1 = Highest seed, Group 2 = 2nd highest seed… etc

    • Regional bracket seed #1 will be the 1st place in group 1, seed #2 is 1st place in group 2… etc

    • Note that the specific position of your school at the beginning of the group stage does not correspond to your seed ranking; teams are listed alphabetically from the bottom as they fill up the group.

Groups of 5-6, with top 2 advancing to Ro32 regional playoff bracket using standard reverse seeding (highest seed vs lowest seed)

  • West – 51 teams, 9 groups, 18 advance

    • Top 14 get a BYE for Ro32, bottom 4 play in Ro32 for last 2 slots in Ro16

      • Bottom seeds will be 2nd place in groups 1 through 4 (1 is lowest, 4 is highest due to how the group seeding works)

  • East – 66 teams, 11 groups, 22 advance

    • Top 10 get a BYE for Ro32, bottom 12 play in Ro32 for last 6 slots in Ro16

      • 1st place in groups 1-10 are top seeds with a Ro32 BYE

      • 1st place in 11 and 2nd place in all groups are bottom seeds and will play in Ro32

  • South – 51 teams, 9 groups, 18 advance

    • Top 14 get a BYE for Ro32, bottom 4 play in Ro32 for last 2 slots in Ro16

      • Bottom seeds will be 2nd place in groups 1 through 4 (1 is lowest, 4 is highest due to how the group seeding works)

  • North – 51 teams, 9 groups, 18 advance

    • Top 14 get a BYE for Ro32, bottom 4 play in Ro32 for last 2 slots in Ro16

      • Bottom seeds will be 2nd place in groups 1 through 4 (1 is lowest, 4 is highest due to how the group seeding works)

General schedule and match setup

  • 1/14 through 2/11

    • Group Stage [Bo3]

  • 2/18

    • Break

  • 2/25 through 3/25

    • Regional Brackets Ro32 through Ro2 [All Bo3 except Ro2 is Bo5]

Other Notes

  • Group stage seeding based on Dynamic Queue MMR (main roster average, or all roster if designations not done by deadline)

  • Group stage ties will be broken in the normal fashion through the following criteria, listed in order of importance

    • Match record (defined by total matches won – total matches lost)

    • Differentials (defined by taking the total number of sets won – total number of sets lost). A set is defined as an individual game within a series/match.

    • Head-to-head result

  • 10 ban system will be used when it goes up on the live servers; Riot will announce when it goes up on PBE and when the Campus Series will transition. This means that the change will most likely occur mid-season at some point, when Riot pushes it live.
