Washington State vs. Arizona State Prediction Roundtable – What’s Going To Happen

Washington State vs. Arizona State prediction roundtable with the Campus Insiders staff. Breaking down what will happen in Saturday’s battle between the Cougars and Sun Devils.

Robert Judin

Jamal Morrow is going to find his way across the goal line early, and Gerard Wicks will respond with his own touchdown run. Washington State will find its groove on the ground instead of with Luke Falk’s arm, ironically, but Falk will still have a solid outing. Manny Wilkins will do what he can, but both Demario Richard and Kalen Ballage will have a difficult time breaking free. Wazzu wins.

Dave Miller

While Wazzu has a potent passing attack, it has a nice complementary ground game as well, as Jamal Morrow is averaging 6.2 yards per carry and Gerard Wicks has seven rushing touchdowns. They will find plenty of room to run, while quarterback Luke Falk and wide receiver Gabe Marks will continue to consistently connect through the air. I have been very impressed with Wazzu’s play in the trenches, and that continues this week. The Sun Devils’ run game will get stymied in a Cougars win.

Matt Stanford

Washington State somehow has found a way to rebound after two embarrassing three-point losses to open the season. The Cougs can’t afford to go backwards now, especially to a team that just got blown out by Colorado. Arizona State will either start injured quarterback Manny Wilkins or freshman third-stringer Dillon Sterling-Cole. ASU will try to give their offense short fields by blitzing Luke Falk all night, hoping to force him into a turnover or two, but I see the Cougs being able to outscore the Sun Devils for their 5th straight win.

Brian Stultz

My secret love of Washington State is, well, no secret anymore as I have talked about it in weeks past. Pullman seems like a magical place, sort of like the town Nelson in the (great) movie Roxanne. Luke Falk will find receiver after receiver open against an Arizona State defense that is ranked dead last in the FBS in passing defense (384.4 yards per game). Wazzu wins again, and Matt Stanford remains pleasant to work with.
