Washington State vs. Cal prediction roundtable with the Campus Insiders staff. Breaking down what will happen during Saturday’s game between the Cougars and Bears.

Robert Judin

Defense will be hard to find in this one. Chad Hansen came back last weekend, and he’ll see a ton of action in this one. David Webb will find him for two of his four passing touchdowns, and Demetris Robertson will reel one in, too. Even with those gaudy numbers, Luke Falk and the Cougars are going to win the shootout. Gabe Marks will have a solid performance, and Gerard Wicks and Jamal Morrow will carry the load on the ground. Wazzu wins, 52-45.

Dave Miller

If you like defense, you may want to avert your eyes when the Cougars and Golden Bears clash. Luke Falk and Davis Webb will find plenty of open passing lanes, so these offenses will be able to march up and down the field with relative ease. Falk’s efficiency will override a Webb performance that will include a key second-half turnover, and Wazzu’s improved play in the trenches gives it the edge as well.

Mike Leach’s squad wins its eighth straight game since starting 0-2, as all eyes continue to look ahead toward the Apple Cup showdown with Washington. However, do not discount Colorado, which will be next on the slate for the Cougars.

Matt Stanford

Cal’s defense is beyond banged up. The schedule hasn’t helped the Golden Bears, but watching them get torched by USC and UW in back-to-back weeks doesn’t inspire confidence that they’ll be able to win a shootout against Washington State’s 10th best scoring offense in the country. Sure, Cal will put up points, ranking 17th in scoring offense themselves, but WSU’s defense has only gotten better as the season has progressed. Look for the No. 23 Cougs to force a couple of turnovers that will start to tip the field in their favor. I see Wazzu winning its eighth straight and setting up a potential College GameDay matchup vs. No. 12 Colorado in Boulder next week.

Brian Stultz

Oh, my poor buddy Matt, still wanting that first ever GameDay visit to Pullman. It will happen someday, my friend. I mean, look at what has occurred the past week around the country – anything is possible.

The Cougars are playing great football, and by that I mean they are putting up a ton of points and getting enough stops to keep winning. This game is at 10:30 p.m. ET, so put on the coffee and stay up to watch this bad boy. Wazzu wins!
