The money in college sports is bigger than it has ever been before. Colleges are now inking huge deals with the biggest apparel brands in the world.
Here’s a list of the current top eight schools with the richest college team apparel contracts. Read below to see the millions each of these schools are making per year.
Alabama
In 2017, Alabama signed one of the richest college team apparel contracts at the time. That year, the Crimson Tide football program inked a $63 million deal with Nike, which included a $5 million bonus.
That contract is set to expire after the 2025 season. With the huge contracts now being handed out, Alabama will likely be asking for double after 2025.
Ohio State
The Ohio State Buckeyes have one of the biggest followings among all of the college programs. It should come to the surprise of none that they have one of the richest college team apparel contracts.
In 2018, the OSU football program struck a huge 15-year, $250 million deal with Nike. This massive deal nets the school $16.6 million a year until 2033 and includes an extension option.
Georgia
In 2019, Georgia signed one of the richest college team apparel contracts, which extended to all their team sports. This was a 5-year contract worth over $40 million and included a $2 million signing bonus.
This deal is set to expire at the end of this year. With the success of the Bulldog’s football program, the school will likely be asking for a large sum during negotiations.
Texas
With the new endorsement deals in place, Texas is making out big with their new team apparel contract. UT signed a 15-year, $250 million dollar deal with Nike that goes on until 2039.
This deal put the Longhorns within the top five of the richest college team apparel contracts. Along with the school, the Longhorns two pro prospect quarterbacks also have multi-million dollar NIL deals.
Notre Dame
For years, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish have had one of the richest college team apparel contracts in Division-I football. Ten years ago, Notre Dame made history by signing a huge 10-year, $90-million contract to exclusively wear Under Armour.
This huge deal set the trend for college football programs to get huge apparel contracts. The Fighting Irish recently renewed their deal with Under Armour for another ten years, that’s worth around $100 million.
Clemson
Clemson and Nike surprised many in 2021, when they agreed to one of the richest college team apparel contracts. The two groups agreed on a 10-year apparel deal that is worth around $58 million.
Until 2031, the Clemson Tigers will be earning $5.8 million per year from their lucrative deal with Nike.
Oregon
Phillip Knight, the founder of Nike has been working with the University of Oregon for years. It shouldn’t surprise anyone that this relationship gave Oregon one of the richest college team apparel contracts.
After Oregon’s $100 million deal with Under Armour ended, Nike jumped in quickly to sign the Ducks. In 2017, Oregon and Nike agreed to an 11-year, $88 million contract that will continue until 2028.
UCLA
UCLA is firmly at the top of the list of the richest college team apparel contracts. Just this year the UCLA Bruins signed a history making 15-year, $280 million contract with Under Armour.
For the next fifteen years, UCLA football will be racking in $18.66 million per year from their apparel deal. It is the richest apparel deal ever signed in NCAA history.
