5. 1978 USC Trojans
- Coach: Rod Dedeaux
Back in 1978, there was no team better in college baseball than Rod Dedeaux’s USC Trojans. In Coach Dedeaux’s 37th year as the head coach of the Trojans, he coached the best team of his career.
That year’s Trojans team dominated the Pac-8 and won both the regular and conference titles. They then went on to win that year’s national title and finished the year with a 54-9 records.

After dominated conference play, the Longhorns went undefeated in the CWS playoffs going 6-0. However, they had to face adversity as they came from late to win four of those games to make history.
The team was anchored by it’s great pitching that featured Calvin Shiraldi, Mike Capel, and future all-time great Roger Clemens.
3. 2019 Vanderbilt Commodores

Back in 2019, the Vanderbilt Commodores marked their place as one of the five best college baseball teams ever. That year, no other team in all of college baseball could touch the Vanderbilt baseball team.
After making easy work of the SEC conference both in the regular and tournament championship, they moved to the CWS playoffs. Vanderbilt handedly beat Michigan in the finals and broke the record for most strikeouts in the CWS finals with 102.
It’s been six years since Vanderbilt’s dominant vicory and the teams’s strikeout record still stands.
2. 2000 LSU Tigers

Of the five best college baseball teams ever, the 2000 LSU Tigers were an offensive juggernaut. From the regular season to the College World Series playoffs, Jim Morris’ Tigers could not be stopped.
Throughout the season, most of the games were not even close en route to winning the SEC conference title. However, when the CWS playoffs arrived, the Tigers switched it into another gear.
In the CWS finals, the LSU Tigers set the record for most runs scored in the CWS with 59 runs. Since setting this record, no team has come close to matching the 2000 LSU Tiger team’s offensive power.

Easily at the top of the list of the five best college baseball teams ever is the Miami Hurricanes. No other team in the history of college base were as successful as this team.
The 2001 Miami Hurricanes teams went on an unbelievable 42-game winning streak during the regular season. This all-time great team then went on to go undefeated in the College World Series.
