2025 Wooden Award Favorites
The 2024-25 college basketball season has just begun and Vegas already has odds out for the John Wooden Award. This season is barely underway and the award is up for grabs.
Here are the five players who are on every 2025 Wooden Award favorites list presented by EssayHUB.com. Check out the odds on the players below before you decide to lay your bets down.
RJ Davis: UNC +800
Next up on the Wooden Award favorites list is UNC point guard RJ Davis. The senior point guard currently has +800 odds to win the Wooden award, which will likely grow.
Davis is currently leading the team with 17.7 PPG and 4.7 assists. Unfortunately, the Tar Heel senior is only averaging 31.9% from the floor, which is well below the league average.
UNC also suffered an early loss to #1 Kansas. If Davis wants a shot at the Wooden Award, he will have to improve his shooting and help UNC win games.
Hunter Dickinson: Kansas +750
#1 ranked Kansas has clearly been the top team so far this season. A lot of their success is thanks to Hunter Dickinson, who’s one of 2025 Wooden Award favorites.
The 7’2” senior has been lights out on both sides of the ball. On offense, Dickinson os averaging 18.5 PPG, 55.6% from the field, and 40% from long-range.
Then on the defensive side of the ball, Hunter has 9.3 RPG, 2 blocks, and 2 steals. He’s been doing it all and if he keeps it up, Kansas will be in the Final Four.
Cooper Flagg: Duke +1200
Before the season began, Cooper Flagg was on all of the 2025 Wooden Award favorites list. Flagg has already improved on nearly all of his stats from the previous year.
The Duke captain is nearly averaging a double-double on the year. However, Cooper’s last two games has drawn him criticism.
Despite putting up 26 against Kentucky, Duke lost due to crucial turnovers by Flagg. He also had a season low 8 points in their bounce back game against Wofford.
If Cooper wants to earn the Wooden Award, he’ll have to fix his mistakes and keep Duke on top.
Mark Sears: Alabama +1300
The Alabama basketball team has been on a resurgence and much of their success is thanks to Mark Sears. The senior point guard was on numerous 2025 Wooden Award favorites list as a dark horse.
Sears has put up decent numbers, which includes 17.3 PPG, 44 FG%, and 3.5 APG. He has put up good numbers, but many experts thinks he’ll come up short in the race for the Wooden Award.
However, if Mark leads Alabama to a run in the NCAA tournament, that would improve his chances.
Johni Broome: Auburn +2000
Auburn forward/center Johni Broome is another player to watch out for this year. The senior has +2000 odds of winning the award, but he’s helping Auburn play good basketball right now.
In Broome’s first three games, he’s averaging an impressive 16.7 PPG, 9.3 APG, and 60% from the field. Many experts doubt he’ll win the award, but he’s on pace to have a very good season.
If Johi keeps playing well, he will improve his draft stock tremendously.
