#13 Texas A&M Defeats #4 Florida(1994)
In 1994 we witnessed one of the five greatest upsets in women’s college basketball history. This was the first time a number 13 seat took down a number four seat.
Number 13 Texas A&M played a fierce game against number for Florida. The Aggies were able to hold off the Gators in the last minute to win 78 to 76 to advance.

#13 Marist Defeats #4 Ohio State(2007)
Before 2007, most CBB fans had no idea Marist University existed. The Red Foxes made their names known by pulling off one of the greatest upsets in women’s college basketball history.
This first round win against #4 seeded Ohio State set the stage for Marist’s Cinderella run in that year’s tournament. After that incredible 67-60 win, everyone knew who Marist University was and had an era of success.
#13 Middle Tennessee Defeats #4 North Carolina(2004)
Going into this opening round game, experts had North Carolina winning this first round game easily. Middle Tennessee had other plans had they pulled off one of the greatest upset wins in women’s college basketball history.
This was one of the few times in women’s college basketball history where a #the 13 seed team advanced. Middle Tennessee University played their best game of the year against the storied UNC school.
They pulled off a shocking 80-70 win to advance to the next round of the tournament.
#12 Ball State Defeats #5 Tennessee(2009)
One of the greatest upsets in women’s college basketball history took place in 2009. #12 Ball State took on the icon Pat Summit’s Lady Volunteers in the second round.
Up until this point, Pat Summit had only been defeated one time in the first two rounds of the tournament. This would mark the second time as Ball State dominated Tennessee through this contest.
They shocked the basketball world and an icon by handing them a 71-55 loss. One of the worst defeats in Summit’s illustrious career
#16 Harvard Defeats #1 Stanford(1998)
Of all of the greatest upsets in women’s college basketball history, this one is the best. #1 Stanford was picked by many to win the tournament and walk over #16 Harvard.
The Ivy League team had other plans as they etched their names in sport’s history. This was the first time in women’s college basketball where a #16 team took out the #1 team.
Harvard’s 71-67 win is still considered one of the greatest upsets that anyone has ever witnessed in sports.
