The Five Greatest Women’s College Wrestlers Ever

In collegiate wrestling, the boys get all of the spotlight, but that is slowly changing. They have been some great women’s wrestlers in college wrestling and we want to give them their spotlight.

Here are the current five greatest women’s college wrestlers ever. Read how these champions marked their names as great champions in the sport below.

5 Carolina Moreno: 3x NCWWC Champion

Carolina Moreno was a 2x state champion from Arizona, who was recruited to wrestle at Southern Oregon University. Since joining the Southern Oregon wrestling team, Moreno has become one of the five greatest women’s college wrestlers ever.

Moreno is currently the top 131 lb wrestler in the US and has won three straight national titles. The top-ranked wrestler has not been defeated in 54 matches and has won her first three tournaments of the year.

She will be hard to stop en route to her 4th NCWWC title and possibly in the US Olympic Trials.

4 Adaugo Nwachukwu: 3x NCWWC Champion

3x NCWWC champion Adaugo Nwachukwu is currently #4 on the list of Five greatest women’s college wrestlers. The San Jose native was initially recruited to Iowa Wesleyan University where she won two straight national titles.

In her third year in college, Nwachukwu transferred to William Penn to win her 3rd straight national title. She also won the 2024 USA Wrestling College Women’s College Wrestler of the Year Award.

Adaugo decided to forego her final year of college to train the Army’s World Class Athlete Program(WCAP). Nwachukwu hopes that training at WCAP will make her better prepared to compete at nationals and the Olympic Trials.

3 Sydnee Kimber: 4x NCWWC Champion

Last year, Sydnee Kimber made her name as one of the five greatest women’s college wrestlers ever. During Kimber’s four years at McKendree University, she dominated the competition.

In 2023, Sydnee won her historic fourth national title with a pin in the last ninety seconds of the match. Since finishing her successful collegiate career, Kimber is now an assistant coach at McKendree and training for the Olympics.

She is currently only one of three female wrestlers to ever win four straight NCWWC titles.

2 Cameron Guerin: 4x NCWWC Champion

Next on the list of the five greatest women’s college wrestlers ever is Cameron Guerin. Cameron is a teammate of fellow women’s wrestling great Sydnee Kimber, who made a little history of her own.

Guerin was a 4x champion while attending school in the state of Washington before being recruited by McKendree. Just like her teammate, Cameron shut down her competition for four straight years to make collegiate wrestling history.

Cameron qualified for the 2024 Olympics trials and placed fifth in her weight class.

1 Emily Shilson: 4x NCWWC Champion

Emily Shilson

Emily Shilson is another incredible female wrestler, who is a 4x NCWWC champion. The Augsburg University alum dominated the 109 lb division in all of her four years at the school.

Shilson is also a 3x world champion and former youth champion before entering into college. If she can add Olympic gold to her resume in the future, she will go down as one of the best.
