South Carolina’s Keys to Victory
Early in the season, the Gamecocks were playing inconsistent, but they’ve got it together and are playing well. Freshman quarterback LaNorris Sellers has improved nicely this year and looks like a future elite college QB.
Running back Raheim “Rocket” Sanders has also played well this year, with over 1000 total yards on the season.
Both Sellers and Rocket will be the primary keys to victory for a South Carolina win against the Clemson Tigers. Clemson’s defense has given up around 139 rushing yards per game this season.
South Carolina must give the ball to Rocket often and see if he can break the Clemson defense. Sellers will also need an error-free game and try to make some big passing plays.
Clemson’s Keys to Victory
Clemson is arguably the hottest team in college football and is currently on an impressive 10-game win streak. The Tigers are right there in the playoff hunt and need this win to mark their spot against SMU in the ACC championship game.
Dabo Sweeney’s defense has been shaky this year, but they must play their best to win this game. They can’t let Rocket Sanders get going, or he will run them down all day.
The Clemson defense will also have to hit LaNorris Sellers early, who has been sacked a lot this year.
Clemson’s offensive line will also play a big factor in this game, as they’re facing an outstanding South Carolina defense. They will have to protect QB Cade Klubnik and make some holes for RB Phil Mafah to make some big plays.
Who’s Going to Win?
Don’t be surprised to see this battle of rivals come down to the last plays of the game. Both teams have the tools to win, and everything is on the line for each team.
This game is really going to be a toss-up, but Clemson will have a slight advantage when playing at home. However, South Carolina will be well represented at Death Valley for their Gamecocks.
We’re leaning towards the -3 spread on Clemson and the under 49.5 points scored for this game. Both teams would love to punch their tickets to a conference title game while ruining their rival’s season.
