It has been a tense year of college football, and the season is coming down to the wire. There are currently fourteen teams that could mathematically earn a spot in the college football playoffs.
Anything could happen in the season’s final stretch, so let’s break down the odds. Read the current college football playoff odds below of the top eight teams presented by https://plinkogame.cc/.
Ohio State +325
Ohio State is at the top of the current college football playoff odds at +325. They lost a heartbreaking game to Oregon earlier in the year but have bounced back into the top three.
However, the #2 Buckeyes still have to go through #5 Indiana, who is undefeated and looking for a playoff birth.
Oregon +350
The #1 ranked and undefeated Oregon Ducks have nearly locked in their spot in the college football playoffs. They already beat #2 Ohio State this year and survived against a tough Boise State team.
Oregon’s fate lies in its own hands as they play Wisconsin and Washington to end the season.
Texas +450
Texas is one of the three SEC teams currently hunting for a spot in the playoffs. The Longhorns currently have the best odds, with intriguing +450 odds.
The #2 Longhorns still have three tough games to survive: all rivalry games against Arkansas, Kentucky, and one of their biggest nemesis in Texas A&M.
Georgia +800
Until last week, the Georgia Bulldogs were the favorite to get into the college football playoffs. Then they were handily beaten by Ole Miss in an upset win that knocked the Bulldogs to #11
With the Bulldog’s college playoff odds doubled, their season is on the line against Tennessee this week. The winner of this game could get into the SEC championship and a playoff birth
Alabama +1000
Despite this being the first year without the legend Nick Saban coaching, Alabama is still in the playoff race. The #9 Crimson Tide took stunning losses to Tennessee and Vanderbilt but beat #1 Georgia at home.
They have +1000 odds, but if any or all of the 1-loss SEC teams lose, Alabama could make the playoffs.
Ole Miss +1000
Right beside Alabama with +1000 odds is Ole Miss. Lane Kiffin’s team is coming on strong to finish the year and shocked Georgia last week at home.
Ole Miss has an easy schedule to finish the year and could get in if any of the one-loss teams lose.
Penn State +2000
Despite Vegas giving #4 Penn State +2000 to make the playoffs, they have almost punched their ticket. The Nittany Lions only have one loss of the year against Ohio State and have looked strong.
Unless they get upset by Minnesota or Maryland, it seems like a done deal for Penn State.
Tennessee +2000
Tennessee has better odds to make the playoffs than the +2000 given to them by Vegas. The Volunteers are having their best season this year with just one loss on the year.
Their season is on the line this week as they play the reigning champions in Georgia in a winnable game.
