Coach Lane Kiffin did well in the transfer portal to help the new starting QB Austin Simmons. Their strong defense led by Suntarine Perkins will need to continue their strong play.

Right now, Ole Miss has a 38% at a 10-2 record or better and their manageable schedule make it doable.

LSU comes in at #4 on the top 5 SEC football teams of the 2025-2026 season. The Tigers had one of the best portal transfers of any team during the off-season to bolster their roster.

Veteran QB Garrett Nussmeier got some much needed help as coach Brian Kelly recruited wide receivers to bolster the offense. Whit Weeks and Harold Perkins on defense, but new DC Blake Baker needs to bring the best out the Tiger’s defense.

LSU is predicted to win 9 or 10 games, but face a tough schedule that includes Alabama, Clemson, and Texas A&M.

By the standards of Crimson Tide fans, Alabama’s last season was terrible. However, they were still a 10-win team and are likely to hit that mark again this season.

Alabama is ranked in both the top five offenses and defenses in the country and got more talent during the off-season. Ryan Williams and Germie Bernard are arguably the best WR duo in the country and so is the defensive front seven.

The Crimson Tide do have some questions at QB, but Ty Simpson is expected to step up.

On paper, the Texas Longhorns should be #1 on the projected top 5 SEC football teams coming into the season. Arch Manning is making his anticipated debut as the starter on a team stacked with talent.

Texas boasts a blue-chip roster with top-ten players in nearly every position and this includes a top-ranked defense. However, they can’t be at #1 until they beat the defending conference champions in Georgia.

If they get past the national champions(OSU), the Longhorns can ride that momentum to the playoffs.

Gunner Stockton is coming in to replace Carson Beck along with London Humphreys and Colbie Young. The Bulldogs also have the advantage this year as they have home field advantage against both Alabama and Texas.

Georgia is the #1 SEC team and will remain #1 until someone knocks them off the top spot.
